The Shoppers Drug Mart® Weekend to End Women’s Cancers™ benefiting The Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret Hospital is a Weekend you’ll never forget. It’s a Weekend to remember those lives we have lost to breast or gynecologic cancer and a Weekend to celebrate the lives we are saving. This is a Weekend creating hope for every woman’s future.
This year, we are kicking off Ten Years Strong in the effort to end women's cancers, by asking: Are you a 10? A 10 is anyone who is walking with us in the 2012 Weekend to celebrate 10 years strong. Join us to commemorate the monumental decade of difference we’ve made for all women.
With over $120 million raised, The Weekend has made groundbreaking strides in the fight against women’s cancers and thousands of lives have been saved along the way. So this year, we are rewarding the commitment of our longtime participants and the efforts of those who go above and beyond to fund raise for the cause with the creation of our brand new 2012 Diamond Club.
We walk in honour of those we’ve lost and the lives we’re saving each day. We’re recruiting old friends and making new ones in a joint effort to expand The Weekend Family and end women’s cancers once and for all. Some of us have been walking since The Weekend’s inaugural year in 2003, while others are just beginning their Weekend journey.
Whether you’re a Survivor yourself or walking for a loved one or walking for all women, it doesn’t matter. Now is as good a time as ever to discover your inner 10! So be a part of our celebration on September 8-9, 2012 and customize the best Weekend experience for you. Choose to enjoy the full 2-Day, 60km distance for maximum impact, or try the 1-Day 32km distance. Walk with us in 2012. BE A 10!

The Walker Experience
For Walkers, the Weekend is an experience that begins the day you register to participate. This is when you will receive your very own web page and have access to all the tools available in your participant centre. This is when you’ll set your fundraising goal, start building your Circle for Hope, begin preparing for the physical challenge, and become a true part of our Weekend Family.
As a member of this family, you’ll be an important advocate for The Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret Hospital as you raise money and spread awareness of the important work they are doing for all women. You’ll also have many opportunities to meet and network with other walkers when you attend Get In Step Sessions, Training Walks, Foot Clinics, Pink Martini Nights, and much more!
Your dedication in the weeks and months leading up to event Weekend will culminate in our 2-Day celebration and 60km walk on September 8-9, 2012.
A Weekend You'll Never Forget!
Day One (Saturday)
The energy and enthusiasm build on Saturday morning as Walkers assemble for check-in, enjoy a continental breakfast, and warm-up with stretching before the inspirational Opening Ceremonies. During Ceremonies, we’ll commemorate those who have lost their battle to cancer and celebrate the lives that are being saved because of your participation.
The walk then begins as you journey approximately 32km through some of the most beautiful and interesting areas of Toronto. Along the way, you’ll be fully supported with pit stops, snacks, hydration stations, relaxing lunch, cheering crowds, and staff to ensure your safety.
The day’s walk ends upon arrival at camp where you’ll be cheered-in by supporters. But the fun doesn’t stop there! You will enjoy a relaxing massage, a hot catered dinner, and medical TLC, if required. Plus, you’ll enjoy entertainment including a lively runway show and dancing until lights out. Not to mention extra special entertainment to recognize the amazing accomplishment of Ten Years Strong, working to end women's cancers! For 2-Day walkers who want to spend the night, an enjoyable camp equipped with hot showers and 2-person tents will be provided.
Day Two (Sunday)
After a hot breakfast, you will enjoy another day of approximately 28km and receive all the same support as on Day One. When you arrive at the finish line you will receive a hero’s welcome from friends, family, and the community who are there to celebrate your amazing achievement…not only for completing 60kms, but also for the difference the money you raised is making in the lives of *their* families and friends affected by women’s cancers. The Weekend concludes with Closing Ceremonies to honor, thank, and celebrate you for your tremendous achievement towards ending ALL women’s cancers.
2-Day Walkers Enjoy the full 2-Day experience and raise at least $2,000 each for The Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret Hospital.

Crew Members give their time over a weekend to make the Weekend an amazing experience for everyone involved! Whether they have been a part of the Crew before or not, they encounter a time in their life that likely becomes a “once in a lifetime” memory.
Being a Crew Member means having an impact on the lives of others and creating an amazing memory, not only for themselves, but for everyone involved! By becoming a part of the Crew, you will make a difference in the fight against women’s cancers OR cancer!

Please note: You must be at least 16 years old to be a Crew Member.
Join us, day or evening, in our Toronto office for various Volunteer opportunities.
If you would like to be a leader of your Crew Team, we encourage you to be a Captain. This will increase your participation with your team and help you see thru the efforts that your team makes on the event!
We have some specific teams who need to perform Crew duties on the Friday of the event. For those with flexible schedules, these are the teams for you!
The event would not survive without the many supplies we use. We need those interested in driving large trucks to volunteer to drive (with a buddy) and make the event a success!
Doctors, Nurses, Massage Therapists, Chiropractors, Podiatrists and more are needed to help ensure the physical safety and well being of the Participants on the event.
Volunteers contribute their time, expertise, and skills to make The Weekend as great as it is for our Walkers. Some Volunteers help before the event by supporting Get In Step Sessions, speaking to people at outreach events, leading Training Walks and helping at The Weekend office. Others help on-event.
An army of dedicated Volunteers help us to produce an amazing experience for our Walkers. They greet you at Opening and Closing Ceremonies with gracious smiles, lend helping hands on the route and at Camp. The Weekend Volunteers are truly heroes before and during the event.
Volunteering is not only a great way to make a difference, it's a chance to change lives.
Throughout the year, there are many details that are taken care of behind the scenes by our staff and especially our Volunteers. This effort goes a long way to making The Weekend seemless. Check the details below and see what you can do as a Volunteer. Sign up and start your journey today.
