Walking to End Women's Cancers

- One Step at a Time -

Our Motto: We don't walk because we have to... We walk because we can!!!

2010 was our Inaugural Year, and 3 of us walked, in 2011 we had 5 team members, in 2012 we want alot more. In 2010 we walked not because we had cancer or because we knew someone who did. We did it because 1 in 4 women in their lifetime will be diagnosed with one of the 6 cancers we walk for and we all know many more than 4 women. We walk for our Sisters, our Grandmothers, our Mothers, our Daughters, our Granddaughters, our Wives, our Girlfriends, and any other Women in our lives.

2 months after the first walk I lost 2 friends to Ovarian Cancer, and currently have friends with Breast, Ovarian, and Cervical Uterine Cancers.

 What it means to be a Pink Tornado?

Have you ever wanted to do something special, or be part of something bigger. Well being a Pink Tornado means just that. This is not a 1km or 5km stroll, this is an Epic 2 day leg toning, weight losing, energy draining, 60 km walk through the streets of Toronto. It is pain at its best, and is something you need to experience first hand in order to understand why we did it and why we continue to do it every year.

We walk because we like to be proactive, not reactive, we want to help those who need it, long before they actually do. Raising money to support women's cancer now means a better future for all those affected by breast, ovarian, cervical, uterine, vaginal and vulvar cancers. Finding ways to supress and cure these afflictions now means tomorrow a life can be saved.

To a Pink Tornado, a life saved is worth more than a LIFETIME of WALKING.

Shoppers Drug Mart® Weekend to End Women's Cancers? is a two-day, 60-kilometre or one-day 32-kilometre walk through the neighbourhoods of Toronto. It will be a challenge and we are ready to take on this endeavour to find a cure to breast and gynecologic cancers!

Our commitment is based on love and the realization that we each need to do our part in this fight. As a team, we will walk. We will raise funds to benefit The Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret, a leader in the fight against all women's cancers. We will be a part of this movement to save lives.

We ask you to join our Circle For Hope. Be a part of our very personal journey - by giving, by walking with us, or simply by sharing our story with your circle of influence.
